This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Temp/Term Appt Authority to meet Critical Hiring Needs to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Works as a General Laborer under the supervision of higher graded maintenance staff, Park Ranger, Park Manager or Project Manager. Performs grounds maintenance, cleaning, and basic repairs of park facilities.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
WG-02 Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) General Labor Worker ~ without more than normal supervision.
I have the ability to perform common routine manual laboring tasks after being instructed on what is to be done and how to do the task. I am skilled in performing a variety of simple ground maintenance tasks. I can assist in loading and unloading various supplies and materials. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- Physical Effort: Work in this position exerts very heavy physical effort in lifting and carrying objects, e.g., cartons, boxes and sacks weighing in excess of 80 pounds. Operates powered lawnmowers on steep grades, cuts trees with an ax or chain saw, digs ditches or trenches with pick and shovel, and pushes wheelbarrows of cement, asphalt and other materials.
- Working Conditions: The position works outside in a variety of weather and inside in areas that may be dusty, drafty, dirty and noisy. Employee is frequently subject to cuts, bruises, muscle strains and sprains and to an occasional chance of serious injury (e.g., broken bones or back injuries). Special care must be exercised to avoid such serious injury while using tools and equipment.
