Job Summary
The General Kitchen Assistant is responsible for general cleaning of the food preparation areas (washing dishes, pots/pans and other utensils, etc) utilizing a commercial dishwasher, storage of food preparation equipment of dishware. Assists in the kitchen as needed, maintains all equipment in a clean, safe and sanitary manner pursuant to established policies and procedures. Interacts with residents in a variety of ways and settings, including social, recreational, diversional and/or vocational ways.
Job Requirements
a. Minimum Education Requirement : High School Diploma or GED preferred.
b. Minimum Experience Requirement : Knowledge of kitchen practices and procedures preffered. Ability to understand VHP and department policies and procedures and operate departmental equipment; normally obtained through on-the-job training. Effective interpersonal communication skills in order to maintain cooperative work relationship. Must be able to read, write, understand and speak English. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
c. Minimum License Requirement : Mon County Food Handlers Card within 30 days of hire.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
Medium Work: Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs with a maximum lifting of 50 lbs.
