Job Description: General Foreman
Responsibilities:
Personnel performing the role of General Foreman will have the following responsibilities:
- Ensuring that every employee on job sites is capable to perform the work asked of them.
- Evaluate every employee for skill proficiency
- Inspiring and motivating each employee in the field to reach their potential daily.
- Ensuring safety and production goals are achieved.
- Providing discipline as necessary
- Scheduling daily activities for each crew
- Sort work, check priority work, request hourly work, correcting crew paperwork, sending logout to cities or utilities, contact customers/contractors/agencies, schedule appointments, coordinate traffic control, environmental work.
- Send daily hourly reports.
- Close grids and report completed work such as trouble orders, or district request.
- Compare completed work with dailies versus survey 123 data.
- Attend to meetings, training, and appointments.
- Verify and approve employees time records.
- Engaging with utility personnel and the public as necessary
- Assign proper trained and qualified personnel for each work site such as tree assessments and job assessments.
- Communicate resources needed to complete projects to Area Supervisor.
- Request proper equipment for all crews then assign equipment to crews.
- Fix equipment or report all damaged equipment.
- Request outages and line shut down activities to utilities
- Send T&E request, visit job site, to request amount of equipment and hours required.
- Perform Safety audits weekly and communicate the results to the Safety department.
- Provide support for daily/weekly toolboxes and Safety meetings.
- Conduct on the job field training for field employees.
- Assess every individual to ensure they are fit for duty before work begins.
- Lead incident response efforts must notify On-site for every incident report. Report all incidents to Area Supervisor immediately. Investigate incident, report 5w’s, safety alerts, witness statements, disciplinary actions, report to safety department.
- Resolve claims, customer complaints, and report to claims department.
- Attend to every emergency call out and respond to all employee calls.
- Schedule Grapple truck for removals and heavy work
- Request PPE for all employees
- Meet all utility corporate goals.
General Foremen have the authority to STOP WORK at any time they determine that unsafe conditions exist. Each General Foreman should be able to communicate weaknesses and strengths in the following areas: span of control, communication, and technology.
Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Interpersonal communication skills
- Conflict resolution training
Education:
- CPR and First Aid Trained (required)
- Bi-lingual (preferred)
- EHAP trained
- CTSP (preferred)
- Certified Arborist (preferred)
