Job Description
This FIRST SHIFT General Fabrication Operator position starts out at $18.26 an hour and is responsible for a variety of deburring, grinding and spotwelding operations on stainless steel while observing safety, housekeeping, and quality management procedures. Position involves utilizing hand grinders, vibratory machines, dynafiles, spot and stud welding equipment to produce a good cosmetic finish. Must be able to read and work from prints, follow written and verbal instructions, plan work and support the organization through teamwork.
- Read and follow blueprints, drawings, shop orders and work instructions to prepare and plan for operations
- Set up and operate stud and spot welding equipment
- Position work in fixture on location table and operate to properly space number of welds requirement
- Operate vibratory equipment on parts.
- Conduct deburring and weld cleaning operations.
- Operate pedestal belt sander to grind welds.
- Fit, align, level and clamp parts in position; or locate and align in fixture or positioner
- Works within a team environment to execute weekly production schedules that are measured for productivity
- Perform responsibilities and tasks following quality and safety practices and procedures
- Check finished work to make sure that it falls within tolerances and specifications
- Responsible for all housekeeping protocols and reporting any inventory concerns to supervisor
- Accurately and efficiently completes all forms and reports related to pre-use of equipment and work performed
- Works cooperatively and congenially with co-workers to achieve cohesive and productive work processes and work environment
- High School diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
- Previously worked in manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and write; and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and welding symbols and work from blueprints using scale, rule, square, etc.
- Possess math skills to be able to perform operations involving decimals and fractions
- Be able to lift and move parts of assorted sizes and weights with and without lifting devices; and be able to stand and bend for extended periods
- Ability to operate overhead hoists and material handling equipment
- May be required to lift up to 35 pounds
- Ability to use hand and power tools, safely and efficiently
- Attendance is an essential function and working overtime as scheduled to meet customer expectations
