General Counsel

Description:

Position Summary: The General Counsel will serve as the chief legal officer, providing strategic legal and regulatory guidance, particularly in the areas of private equity, real estate financing, mortgage lending, and compliance with mortgage licensing requirements. This position requires a detailed understanding of the legal landscape in Texas and potentially other jurisdictions.
Location: Dallas, TX (In-person with company-paid downtown parking)
Key Responsibilities:

• Advise on legal and regulatory matters related to mortgage licensing and compliance, ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and regulations, particularly in Texas.
• Oversee all legal aspects of transactions in private equity funds, real estate debt, and the mortgage industry.
• Develop and implement strategies for managing legal risks and ensuring compliance across operations.
• Lead the negotiation and drafting of contracts and agreements, ensuring legal and regulatory requirements are met.
• Serve as a key legal advisor on corporate governance, risk management, and strategic planning.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school, licensed to practice in Texas.
• Significant experience in corporate law, with a strong focus on the mortgage industry, private equity, real estate debt, and compliance with mortgage licensing regulations.
• Exceptional negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
• Proven ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage a diverse workload in a dynamic environment.
