Job Description
- Clean furniture, walls, glass, mirrors, fixtures, machines and other equipment (e.g. Dust, wash, vacuum, and polish)
- Gather and empty trash
- Service, clean and supply restrooms
- May move furniture, light fixtures or other items manually or with hand truck
- Clean and maintain building floor surfaces, including but not limited to, sweeping, dust mopping, damp mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, de-gumming and spot cleaning
- Prevent wear to floor surfaces by using a floor wax or protective sealant
- May be assigned to clean totes, including inspecting, cleaning, and disinfecting, using the Wash Station
- Execute proper use of all equipment
- Clean and maintain cleaning equipment per instructions (e.g. rags, mops, machines, tools and buckets)
- Prepare cleaning solutions (water, detergents and other chemicals) according to specifications
- Monitor and report facility issues requiring repairs (notify Amazon Shift Lead, Amazon Site Manager or Zone Manager)
- Monitor building security and safety (lock doors after operating hours and ensure electrical appliances are turned off, etc.)
- Properly stack and replace cleaning items and tools
- Ensure supplies are available for each shift
- Report supply requisition needs to Lead/Manager
- Use USDA-approved chemicals to disinfect surfaces
- Sanitize all components of food production and processing equipment
- Disassemble, sanitize, and reassemble food processing equipment
- Dispose of waste along the assembly line
- Sweep and mop the floors
- Dust ventilation ducts to ensure proper airflow
- Refill soap and hand towels in the bathrooms
- Report potential issues to management
- General familiarity with cleaning best practices
- Knows how to set work priorities to work independently but can also coordinate work priorities to work as a member of a team
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work for efficiencies without minimizing work results
- Ability to operate and use janitorial tools, equipment and supplies with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safe handling for chemicals sheets/documents (generally in English; may have in Spanish where state required)
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
- Dependable, honest, strong work ethic, motivated, professional appearance and hygiene, communication skills, team player
- Must successfully pass background check and may be required to pass a drug test depending on the location being serviced; in healthcare settings, drug test is required
- Janitorial/housekeeping or comparable experience is a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Regular day, evenings and nights, including weekends and holidays (schedule and hours of work will depend on assignment)
- Use of hands and fingers
- Ability to grasp, reach, push, and pull with hands and arms
- Feel, talk, see, smell and hear
- Stand; walk; climb, use balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Lift and/or move/carry, up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Stand on feet most of the day, for extended periods of time, and may be required to walk several miles each day (some facilities are over a quarter mile in length)
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
- Building and warehouse, which may include varying temperatures and moderate noise levels
- Site environment may have varying workstations and varying interactions with customers and staff
- Working conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes/odors, hot/cold temperatures, inside/outside noise, vibration, standing on concrete for long hours and wet and/ or uneven surfaces
