Position: GeneralAdministrator

Company: Ball & Socket Arts, Inc

Location: Cheshire, CT

Reporting to: Executive Director

FLSA Status: Part-time, Non-exempt (20-30 hours per week)

Hours: Business operating hours

Wage: $24.00-28.00 per hour, depending on experience

About the Company: Ball & Socket Arts is a 501(c)(3) organization. We have begun full-time programming in the summer of 2023 while simultaneously continuing to raise funds for developing our remaining historic factory buildings.

During our Phase 1 programming, we will offer curated gallery shows, changing mural installations, a writer's workshop, outdoor concerts, marketplaces, commissions, artist lectures, and other related activities and programming.

About the role: The General Administrator role will be instrumental in running the smooth day-to-day operations of Ball & Socket Arts. We seek an enthusiastic and hard-working individual with a passion for the arts, historic preservation, creative placemaking, and community engagement who is interested in growing with the organization. The General Administrator will actively work with both the Executive Director and Director of Programming to support the vision, mission, and work of BaSA.

This position offers an exciting and unique opportunity to be part of the transformation of this historic 150-year-old manufacturing facility into a vibrant environment of discovery, learning, and community engagement with a focus on contemporary art, arts-related community organizations, and a venue for music, theater, and the humanities.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Bookkeeping or experience with QuickBooks necessary.
  • Processing bills for payment.
  • Utilize donor management system to enter donations information into database.
  • Lead and generate appropriate donor acknowledgment letter writing process.
  • Work with Executive Director and the Director of Programming in grant management and process tracking.
  • Assistance with appeal mailings as required.
  • Letter writing and mailing as needed.
  • Maintaining mailing lists in database.
  • Participate in organizational events and donor development opportunities.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Manager.

Skills and Qualifications

A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

Experience in administration, nonprofit management, business, or a related field is important.

Ideally candidate should demonstrate:

  • Exceptional organizing, communication, and writing skills.
  • Experience working with the arts and communities' engagement.
  • Fundraising knowledge and experience a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft 360, QuickBooks, Network for Good, or similar donor management platforms.
  • Creativity and thinking-outside-of-the-box mentality.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and climb stairs.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Lengthy periods of standing and walking in all areas of the facilities.
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the facilities.
