Overview of the Role:

The General Accountant is responsible for performing routine accounting activities for this healthcare services organization. This position reports to the Senior Manager of Accounting and must be a self-starter and an independent, detail-oriented team member. This employee ensures that the accounting work is performed in a timely and efficient manner; financial reporting is accurate and complete using consistent methodologies in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and state specific Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP), as applicable; required filings are made accurately and within prescribed deadlines; and other management reporting is complete and delivered on time.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for tracking daily cash transactions
• Process cash and check deposits
• Assist in daily and monthly cash/bank reconciliation process
• Responsible for recording fixed asset additions and dispositions in the accounting system
• Run monthly depreciation in accounting system
• Reconcile the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the general ledger
• Prepare property tax returns
• Review employee expense reports in accordance with Company guidelines (e.g. – receipt matching, reasonableness)
• Prepare assigned balance sheet reconciliations
• Preparation and/or review of journal entries
• Assist in gathering proper documentation of quarterly and annual audit requests for external auditors
• Other responsibilities as assigned by Accounting Management

Required Skills and Experience:

• Minimum 2-3 years general accounting experience preferred.
• Education/Licensure:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business, with knowledge of accounting and / or bookkeeping.
• Other:
• Intermediate proficiency in Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Experience with systems for cash, fixed assets, accounts payable, expense reporting and general ledger accounting systems such as Microsoft Great Plains, Lawson Infor, Peoplesoft, Oracle, or SAP, preferred but not required.
• Willingness and capability to learn new things quickly.
• Technology and automated solutions-oriented.

Pay Range: $70,000 - $75,000 annually.
