Department Overview
Gas Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to our customers. As a whole, Gas Operations is responsible for all aspects of PG&E’s gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response.
Position Summary
Performs engineering work in support of transmission or distribution operations, production, construction and/or maintenance functions within Gas Operations. Identifies, diagnoses and solves technical problems. Ensures the timely, thorough, and accurate completion of all engineering services work and projects. Prepares new or modified designs. Creates and maintains company standards for area of focus.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. We would not anticipate that the individual hired into this role would land at or near the top half of the range described below, but the decision will be dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
A reasonable salary range is:
Annual Minimum: $136,000.00
Annual Maximum: $232,000.00
Job Responsibilities
- Is recognized as a subject matter expert in one discipline and provides breadth of knowledge and performs analyses and projects across several disciplines.
- May act as team lead and provide direction to less experienced employees
- Presents engineering research, findings, solutions and recommendations to Directors and Managers across Gas Operations
- Projects and work often have impact, application and interaction across departments in Gas Operations and across PG&E.
- Solves complex problems by developing and using new and innovative engineering design and technical solutions
- Studies, evaluates and tests new or revised methodologies, best practices, tools, processes, procedures and technology assessing potential fit, benefits, and impacts to Gas Operations
- Technical pathfinder that searches for practical breakthrough solutions to complex problems and issues
- Works independently with guidance on only the most complex projects
Qualifications
Minimum:
- BS Engineering
- Seven (7) years of relevant experience
- May be required to have a valid California driver's license on day one of employment
Desired:
- Masters Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- Experience in gas distribution industry, job-related
- Experience in gas maintenance and construction
- Experience in gas transmission, or related
- PE-Professional Engineer license
