Job Summary: The job incumbent will serve as Assistant Manager for Helping Alaska's Furniture Bank Ministry.

Believing in Helping Alaska’s mission and adhering to Helping Alaska’s policies and procedures, the Furniture Bank Manager will work to serve our local community with respect, compassion and love.

Essential Functions: This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbent(s).

Representative Duties: Under general supervision of the Furniture Bank Manager, job incumbent will:

1. Maintain responsibility for general administrative support functions to the Furniture Bank Ministry

2. Keep the Furniture Bank Warehouse organized, safe and clean

3. Accept furniture donations and price accordingly

4. Processes in-store purchases

5. Maintain data tracking/reporting for the Furniture Bank Ministry

6. Accept and process furniture voucher applications in a timely manner

7. Schedule and complete furniture deliveries in a timely manner

8. Schedule and complete furniture donation pick-ups in a timely manner

9. Oversee volunteer staff in the Furniture Bank Warehouse

10. Maintaining strict client confidentiality

Other Responsibilities:

10. Builds and maintains relationships within the community and clients served

11. Participate with Helping Alaska staff and volunteers in activities that promote teamwork, a sense of community, mutual support including daily devotions and joint staff meetings for prayer, discussion and planning

12. Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or GED

2. Minimum of 2 years work experience preferred. Some leadership/manager experience is a plus

3. Must profess to be a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ

4. Microsoft Excel and Word experience required

5. Current driver's license

6. Willing to submit a background check

7. Willing to adhere to Helping Alaska and Furniture Bank Ministry policies and procedures

8. Must be willing to and have the ability to learn the internal tracking system for all services that take place within the Furniture Bank Ministry

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Basic computer skills including operating knowledge in Microsoft Word and Excel, etc.

2. Ability to lift 50 pounds, walk three flights of stairs, and capability to stand/walk >75% of the shifts

3. Must have integrity and an understanding of the importance of integrity

4. Excellent communication skills demonstrated through writing, speaking and listening -within these skills, kindness, compassion and a non-judgmental approach is absolutely essential

Supervision: This position will supervise volunteers and applicable staff members as the Furniture Bank team grows.

Physical demands: Job is active requiring >75% standing, walking and lifting. Local travel required for furniture pick-ups and deliveries. This position requires work on a computer and use of a phone.

Summation: The job has high contact with people, which makes communication and interpersonal skills crucial. The Furniture BankAssistant Manager must be able to work independently, or as a team member. Confidentiality required. The incumbent must be able to multitask, and be able to complete tasks in a timely manner.

Job Types: Part-time, Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $21.50 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 25 per week

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Overtime
  • Weekends as needed

Work Location: In person
