Role Description: Primary Purpose:
Operates the furnaces in a safe, efficient manner to produce liquid smoke to meet customer commitments, company objectives and quality standards.
Monitors and adjusts the temperatures, cooling water flow and "add water" volume to control the quality and quantity of liquid smoke output.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Perform acidity tests on furnaces to adjust water (twice per shift).
Perform volatile tests by taking samples of char (adjust heat or reduce dust feed).
Take temperature readings on each furnace every two hours & change pans twice per shift.
Rod-out (clean furnaces) every two hours.
Pump-out smoke to mixer tank, as required by production volume.
Grease, oil and lube furnaces, as required.
Burn-out furnaces prior to weekly shut-down.
Maintain neat, clean and organized furnace and control rooms by cleaning daily.
Keep daily production logs.
Keeps furnace room clean and safe.
Complies with all corporate safety and environmental regulations and procedures.
Complies with all HACCP Food Service procedures and guidelines.
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability kneel, bend, squat, stoop, carry, reach, stand, grip, push, pull, arm extensions and perform elevated work.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Abilility to work overtime and use a flexible schedule.
PFT & respirator fit test required
Working at heights / climbing ladders
