Position: Funeral Director/Embalmer
Location: Jacksonville Beach, FL
Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and professional Funeral Director to join our team (interns may also be considered). As a Funeral Director, you will be responsible for assisting families in planning and arranging funeral services, providing bereavement support, and ensuring that all aspects of the funeral process run smoothly. If you have a strong attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, and a genuine desire to help others during difficult times, this may be a good fit for you.
Duties:
- Meet with families to discuss funeral arrangements and provide guidance and support throughout the process
- On call only 6-8 nights per month. Call Only, NO Removals.
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of funeral services, including transportation of the deceased, embalming and preparation of the body, and scheduling of visitations and ceremonies
- Assist families in selecting caskets, urns, flowers, and other funeral merchandise
- Provide grief counseling and support to bereaved family members
- Handle administrative tasks such as obtaining death certificates and filing necessary paperwork
- Maintain a clean and organized funeral home environment
- Provide excellent service to the community and develop relationships within the community
- Need to have a strong understanding of the role of the funeral director but can train on skills if needed
- Passion for serving and supporting others (families or others on the team)
- Willingness to learn and contribute new ideas and bring an innovative approach to the team
Skills:
- Strong communication skills to ensure that funeral services are well-coordinated and meet the needs of the family
- Ability to dissect complex information provided by families to create personalized funeral plans
-Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary
- Excellent customer service skills to provide compassionate support to grieving families
- Understanding of physiology and anatomy to assist with embalming or other body preparations
- Knowledge of cosmetology techniques for preparing bodies for viewing
