Job Description
The Fund Accounting Manager is responsible for building and supporting a team of professionals which provides assurance functions to support the Invesco global products and working with various internal business partners, third party administrators and custodians. The incumbent is responsible for representing Fund Accounting, leading, and developing staff, review daily and periodic work activities, challenge status quo and implement process improvements and develop a strong control framework for the department as a whole.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and advise on departmental responsibilities including but not limited to oversight of daily net asset values and distribution rates for Invesco investment products.
  • Assist, advise and train the team in problem solving, addressing issues associated with the third-party administrator calculations and escalate as the need arises.
  • Deliver and mentor team in providing top tier client service. The candidate will have the ability to face off with different internal clients as well as TPA Management to ensure quality and timeliness are embedded in department deliverables. Ensure that Invesco initiatives are led and delivered in a manner that represents the Invesco culture and client service standards.
  • Assurance for regulatory updates and any business requirements to support Invesco global products and financial instruments.
  • Develop and maintain a strong internal control framework and efficient processes for the team including monitoring and audit trail.
  • Build a robust process to support internal and external audit requirements and oversee audit engagements on behalf of the department on an ongoing basis.
  • Manage an effective team by ensuring proper training, coaching, managing daily and periodic deliverables, succession planning and short- and long-term resourcing requirements
  • Lead special projects such as design and implementation of any new enhancements, process, and procedures.
  • Assigned duties might include but not limited to user acceptance testing, documentation of procedures and policies.
  • Responsible for evaluating and providing assurance for issues, breaches or exceptions during the oversight review performed throughout the day
  • Represent the team in cross functional, both locally and globally, activities, projects and interactions with business partners and vendors, including but not limited to third-party administrators, custodians, NAV oversight vendor, etc.

Experience / Knowledge:
  • A minimum of five years of accounting experience, two of which are in the mutual fund industry is strongly preferred
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience is preferred
  • Must have advanced knowledge of multi-class accounting and an advanced knowledge of a variety of investment vehicles that can include, but are not limited to:
    • Currency Hedged Series, options, futures, swaps, bonds, mortgage-backed securities, and equities for both domestic and foreign investments
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and application to various investment types
  • Ability to multi-task and flexibility with workload requirements as an individual and manage workload for the team
  • Previous pricing experience and knowledge of ETFs will be an asset
  • Strong Bloomberg and Microsoft Office skills
  • VBA and database knowledge an asset

Skills Required:
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with a variety of individuals across organizations
  • Must have an advanced understanding of accounting and financial principles as it applies to daily pricing, monthly reconciliation, and financial reporting for mutual funds
  • Must have strong analytical skills to solve complex accounting issues, be proficient in reviewing detailed financial data and show initiative in problem solving and follow up individually and train others to do the same
  • Must have the ability to manage multiple projects, delegate work, anticipate obstacles, prioritize work, and escalate issues to meet deadlines
  • Must have the ability to build a strong internal control framework, challenge status quo and build efficient processes which continue to evolve as required by the business, products, markets, regulations, etc.
  • Must be proficient in the use of computer equipment and software, specifically spreadsheet applications and mutual Fund Accounting systems
  • The ability to build a highly effective team with positive morale and high standards is required

Formal Education:
  • Bachelor's degree is required ; Accounting is preferred

License / Registration / Certification:
  • Completion of CPA, CFA, CSC or IFIC is preferred

Working Conditions:
  • Normal office environment with little exposure to noise, dust and temperatures
  • Extended hours may be required.
  • Occasional travel required.
  • The ability to lift, carry or otherwise move objects of up to 10 pounds is also necessary
  • Hours may include evenings and/or weekends and may include 24 hour a day on call support by cell phone.
