Functional Test Development Engineer
THE ROLE:
Join the global Quality Returns Verification team which develops test capability of customer returns. Develop test suites for CPU and APU products, capable of reliably detecting processor defects. Investigate test capability gaps and develop solutions to address those gaps. In the pursuit of new Test Development, interface with various engineering teams within AMD, including Production Test teams, Quality Debug, Platforms Engineering, Diagnostics, and Software Engineering.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop Test Suites to identify defective processors and/or ASIC at our customer’s production facilities.
- Define the requirements for validating the stability and accuracy of the test suite.
- Enhance coverage of test suites by creating new testing capabilities. Gather information from various data points to assess coverage gaps and investigate possible solutions. Use a data centric approach to prioritize focus areas and prove efficacy of solutions.
- Monitor various firmware and software repositories for possible test suite updates.
- Coordinate with other developers for possible automation improvements.
- Coordinate with Program Managers on priorities and deadlines.
- Document technical information and training material with a dispersed global audience in mind.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with x86 architecture and functionality.
- Experience with low level and high-level programing languages.
- Expertise in Platform level analysis including both software and hardware elements.
- Proficient with Ubuntu OS, including the ability to compile and install kernels, edit drivers, and debug functionality issues.
- Proficient with Windows OS, including familiarity with event logs and automation of functions using PowerShell. Familiarity with Secure Boot & EFI Boot Loaders.
- Experience working across organization lines and across a dispersed global team to gather information and make collective decisions.
- Engineering problem solving skills, including problem definition, experiment design and execution.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to be present technical information concisely to peers, directors, and above.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- BS/MS EE or equivalent
