About the Role

Supports technical work related to engineering activities. Serves as a liaison and coordinates engineering activities from concept through production testing. Participates in continuous improvement efforts. Researches, recommends, and implements or improves new and/or existing products processes, materials, technologies, and equipment. The Engineering Intern will support the staff engineers to create and maintain the programs and any customer or internal Magna specific requirements. Performs other duties as required.

Your Responsibilities

•    Collaborate with the support team to enhance product engineering activities, encompassing product development, process optimization, tooling, testing, and materials management.
•    Take guidance from fellow staff engineers and Engineering Managers throughout the entire engineering lifecycle, from predevelopment activities to production. Adhere to program schedules and provide timely progress reports.
•    Act as a liaison to facilitate development activities, coordinating both internal and external resources. Offer expertise in problem-solving, taking proactive measures to overcome obstacles encountered during the development process.
•    Champion continuous improvement initiatives by researching, recommending, and implementing innovative products, processes, materials, and equipment. Conduct comparative and competitive analyses to identify and implement the most effective techniques.
•    Contribute to team efforts in developing automation tools for streamlined data reporting and management, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in project tracking.
•    Demonstrate flexibility by undertaking additional responsibilities as needed for project completion and to fulfill departmental objectives.
 

Who we are looking for

•    Currently pursuing a master’s degree (or higher) in engineering or a related field, showcasing a keen interest in acquiring in-depth knowledge of product engineering practices, principles, and processes; or possessing equivalent practical experience.
•    Demonstrates a strong aptitude for conceptualizing, coordinating, and integrating internal data, accompanied by the ability to articulate concepts, ideas, and other issues relevant to product engineering clearly.
•    Proven ability to manage projects comprehensively, from initiation to completion, collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders. Proficient in handling moderate to long-term assignments that involve a broad scope of responsibilities. Possesses excellent organizational, written, and communication skills and can effectively manage multiple projects concurrently. Exhibits the capability to work independently.
•    Competent in operating a range of standard and specialized equipment/tools pertinent to the job role.
 

Your preferred qualifications

•    Currently Attending a college or University

•    Demonstrates proficiency in a variety of programming languages, including C, C++, Python, CAPL, and MATLAB, showcasing a versatile skill set for software development and analysis.
•    Possesses advanced computer knowledge and skills, with expertise in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint, ensuring effective documentation, data analysis, and presentation capabilities.
•    Exhibits professional communication skills, both written and verbal, fostering clear and concise interaction within team environments and facilitating effective information exchange.
•    Showcases a robust understanding of Vector tools, interfaces, and CAN communication, reflecting a high level of competence in utilizing industry-standard tools for embedded systems and network communication.
•    Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer.
