We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join the Inova Cares Clinics for Children in a full-time outpatient capacity. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality healthcare services to the children in our community.
Job Type: Full-time
Schedule: Monday - Friday with 1 Saturday per month.

The Registered Nurse Outpatient provides safe/therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way in a physician practice or other outpatient setting. Incorporates differences into the provision of care while integrating knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families to include patient and family education. Achieves desired patient outcomes by using an integrated approach. Incorporates data and information to improve care and enhances outcomes while ensuring improvements in practice settings. Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice while serving as a resource, preceptor and mentor.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs essential duties necessary to clinic or non-acute operations to include taking vitals, stocking exam rooms, giving vaccines, blood draws, etc.
- Formulates plans of care based on trends of similar patients including patient education and discharge planning. Identifies variances from expected outcomes. Evaluates patient outcomes and makes revisions to plans of care.
- Collaborates with patients/families to identify realistic desired outcomes. Adapts standards and guidelines for individual patients. Tailors and prioritizes caring practice to individual needs including cultural, ethical and spiritual needs. Participates in the planning of routine transitional healthcare needs (i.e. treatment options, patient placement options, end of life options). Responds to changes in patients' needs and provides holistic caring.
- Makes independent clinical decisions based on knowledge drawn from education and experience.
- Actively advocates for patients' rights and identifies potential conflicts.
- Ensures efficiency in the delivery of care. Determines immediate priorities and offers solutions for problems. Works with the team to achieve maximum productivity.

- Documents all patient care activities as per documentation standards. Assists the healthcare team with the documentation process.
- Participates in work groups and/or committees. Keeps informed of initiatives and incorporates the outcomes of team or committee work into practice.
- Acts as a clinical resource and serves as a mentor to healthcare team members while displaying leadership behaviors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Certification - Basic Life Support Upon Start
Licensure - Registered Nurse Upon Start Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment
Experience - 0 years of experience. 6 months of experience is preferred.
Education: Bachelors Degree Nursing BSN. If RN has an Associates Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 24 months of start date.
Other: - Communication / Speaking / Writing Proficient in English. Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to display a caring demeanor toward others. Proficient computer skills are required. Bilingual in Spanish highly preferred.
