Location:
Knoxville, TN
Open Date:
Feb 14, 2024

Description:

The Department of English at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville is now accepting applications for one or more full-time lecturer appointments, pending funding, beginning in August 2024. Lecturers teach 12 hours per semester, mostly in our nationally recognized first-year composition program but also—depending on curricular needs and instructor qualifications—in sophomore or upper-division courses in public and professional writing, literature, and/or creative writing. The position also offers opportunities for annual merit raises, promotion with longer appointments, and occasional summer courses for additional pay. Although not required as part of the job duties, UTK offers a variety of resources for professional development, community engagement, service, scholarship, and creative projects; course releases may be granted for departmental service or professional development.

UT Knoxville is the flagship campus of the University of Tennessee system. We are a Research-1 public university with over 25,000 undergraduate and 6,000 graduate students from over one hundred countries. Knoxville has a vibrant literary and arts scene, a lively downtown, and is less than an hour’s drive from the Great Smoky Mountains. The city is also home to 1000 acres of urban wilderness, the Knoxville Museum of Art, and Big Ears, the acclaimed avant-garde festival of music, film, and art.
