Benefits Associated with this Position
  • Sick Leave: Accrues at a rate of 12 days per fiscal year.
  • Life Insurance: The coverage amount is based on two and one-half times appointment salary rounded up to the next whole thousand with a maximum coverage of $100,000 and includes the same amount of Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefits. The University currently pays the entire cost of coverage.
  • Medical, Dental and prescription Drug Coverage: The cost of coverage is shared between employees and the University. Rates are determined by participation in Wellness Program and use of tobacco products. Coverage is available on the first of the month following appointment date.
  • TIAA Auto Enroll: New employees are automatically enrolled in a tax deferred retirement program at hire: three (3) percent is deducted before taxes for the program to facilitate retirement planning. Employees may opt out of the program within 90 days.
  • Fee Waiver Program: Staff may enroll in up to 18 hours of course work each academic year at a reduced rate. Consult your department for any limitations or restrictions.

Job Summary/Basic Function
Teach courses in undergraduate elementary education, with additional teaching responsibilities in either early childhood or special education, for Fall 2024 and Spring 2025.

Specific Responsibilities
Teach courses in undergraduate elementary education, with additional teaching responsibilities in either early childhood or special education. We seek a colleague who values quality instruction and continual growth, thrives in a collaborative environment of scholars, desires to mentor diverse students, and embraces experiential learning and community engagement in the educational experience. We value the integration of digital literacy, inclusivity, and multicultural competence in the teaching and learning environment.
Responsibilities may include teaching undergraduate/graduate courses, designing and developing course syllabi, coordinating and supervising field experiences and interns, and serving on departmental or program area committees. This individual should expect to work collaboratively in partnership with university faculty and public/private school faculty and participate as needed in the department’s accreditation and continuous improvement activities.

Required Relevant Education & Experience
Master’s degree in early childhood, elementary, or special education; 3 years of teaching experience in early childhood or elementary setting.

Early childhood, elementary, or special education.

Preferred Relevant Education and Experience
Doctoral degree in early childhood, elementary, or special education; curriculum and instruction; or closely related field.
