Housekeeping – Day Porter

Webb School of Knoxville is now hiring a full-time Day Porter to join our Housekeeping Team. The Day Porter is responsible in assigned areas for maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for our students, facility, staff, and visitors.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

· Clean all assigned areas

· Stock restroom, classroom, and commons area dispensers as needed

· Continuously monitor and clean all public areas in assigned buildings including entrances, hallways, restrooms, lobbies, and common areas

· Pick up and remove trash as needed

· Respond to emergency cleaning calls as requested

· Operate cleaning equipment including, but not limited to:

Buffer, vacuum, auto-scrubber, blower, wet-dry vacuum, walk-behind sweeper, and carpet cleaner

· Apply all safety-related precautions as outlined in SDS

· Understand and follow the school emergency response plan as required

· Report safety hazards and needed repairs to the Maintenance Supervisor

· Ability to work Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. with occasional overtime for emergencies or special events

Qualifications

· High School diploma or equivalent

· Prior housekeeping/Day Porter experience preferred

· Valid driver’s license

· Reliable transportation

· Pass a background check and drug screen

· Initiative and ability to work with minimal direction or supervision

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Personal Characteristics

· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teammates, administrators, and school personnel

· Ability to relate to students, faculty, staff, and visitors in a positive manner

· Ability to lift and manipulate equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds

· Ability to operate job-related equipment in a safe manner

· Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

· Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
