Energy Assistance Program (EAP) Specialists process client applications; provide in-person client assistance, as well as community outreach in the service region; and are responsible for completing data entry in a fast-paced environment. EAP Specialists are responsible for following Energy Assistance Program guidelines, rules, and regulations, and attending necessary training to stay current on any changes that occur throughout the program year. EAP Specialists refer and connect clients to relevant energy assistance and other Community Action programs as appropriate. This position requires professionalism, accountability, and a willingness to work with a diverse population, along with a driving desire to make a difference in the lives of low-income families and individuals throughout our region. Three Rivers Community Action, Inc. is a non-profit agency providing economic opportunities that strengthen individuals, families and communities in southeastern Minnesota. The Energy Assistance Program (EAP) is a federal program which helps households pay heating and electricity bills. Assistance is available because people with low incomes, of all ages with varying sources of income, might have a difficult time paying all of their bills, yet they must have heat and electricity in the winter.

This is a seasonal, full-time position (40 hours per week) based in Rochester. Various factors will affect the actual end date but position is expected to last no more than 6 months. Seasonal positions of less than six months do not include any Agency benefits. Successful EAP Specialists may be asked to return for the following EAP Season.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Two years' experience in customer service or related field
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe
- Experience with Laserfiche, or demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software
- Ability to work with the public, articulate ideas and work with diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
- Extensive organizational skills and an ability to handle multiple tasks
- Self-motivated, confident individual with ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Bilingual skills (spoken and written Somali/English or Spanish/English) preferred but not required
