Full-Time Assistant Resale Shop Supervisor

Job Summary: The Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington’s Look Again Resale Shop in Alexandria, VA seeks a full-time Assistant Managerto join our team. The position presents the opportunity to direct and coordinate activities of the resale / thrift store. 40 hours per week with benefits – weekends twice a month is required.

Primary Responsibilities – Resale Shop Assistant Manager:

• Directly supervises employees and volunteers in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
• Plans, assigns, and directs work to employees and volunteers.
• Conducts employee onboarding and training.
• Participates in volunteer recruitment and training, as needed.
• Handles complaints and problem resolution.
• Welcomes and assists customers/donors at store.
• Researches merchandise values and history.
• Uses eBay to review and list merchandise.
• Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or higher
• 3+ years’ experience in a related position, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must be available to work weekends
• Experience using a computerized cash register (Square cash register)
• Supervising/management experience
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficient analytical and mathematical skills
• Basic reasoning and problem-solving skills
• Must speak, read and write English
• Proficient in using Google Workspace (Google Docs) and Microsoft Office (Word, etc.), eBay, and other online tools
• Must have access to car or be able to transport materials to and from other POB locations.

Work Environment:

• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 50 lbs., bend, stoop, reach, push and carry items as needed.
• Typical retail store setting.
• Will frequently be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
• Two weekends a month required.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $35,000 annually

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Weekend availability
