Take your learning, development, creativity, and impact up a notch! We have an opening for an SDE II on our Retention team, reporting directly to our Engineering Team Leader who recently received the top honor Jerry awards to only one employee per year (2023 Jerrian of the Year)! The Retention team focuses on improving customer retention for our core insurance shopping product. You’ll work with a small and mighty powerhouse team to push the limits of technology further than we’ve gone before.
How you will make an impact:
Partner closely with our product managers, engineering team leads, product designers, and key business leaders to drive user growth and retention for our core insurance product
Take ownership of new feature and automation development, write unit tests, self tests, and QA software, continuously delivering high quality engineering results
Participate in code reviews on a daily basis, always holding an exceptionally high bar on code quality
Contribute your expertise to product specs and engineering specs, and bring valuable insight from both a business and technical perspective
Leverage feedback from customers and our internal teams to continuously iterate on our core insurance shopping product
Monitor software errors and alerts on a daily basis, ensuring that critical issues are addressed with a sense of urgency
Create and maintain documentation for development, troubleshooting, and training purposes
Become a trusted expert on our suite of products, production systems, and production tools
Ideal profile:
Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
2+ years of production Software Engineering experience in consumer applications
Hands-on coding experience using Typescript/Javascript, Java, Python, C, C++, or C#
Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms, operating systems, databases and networking fundamentals
Ability to work flexibly in a variety of development environments and technologies
Solid understanding of performance implications and scalability of code
Keenness for writing good, meaningful tests and maintaining thorough test coverage
