Job Description
Supports kinship families to maintain placements and help children work toward permanency
Prepares and supports kinship families for transitions, inlcuding placement, change of placement and permanency
Assists kinship families to access resources within the community
Develops and invidualized respite plan with the kinship family
Assists Case Management teams with coordination of transporation for visitation/interaction with children and birth families, appointments, court and other agencies as requested
Serves as a role model and source of feedback for staff, clients and kinship families
Completes safety plans, as needed, with kinship families
Works with kinship family to ensure child's Lifebook is updated and maintained
Completes KBI, CANIS, Adult Abuse Registry background checks and fingerprints for prospective relative families, as needed
Provides supports and services assisting the relative caregiver in addressing the effect maltreatment may have had on the child in their care
Participates in supervisory and kinship team meetings, sharing pertinent information about children/families' progress, collateral contacts and relationships with other agencies/communities
Completes and maintains written documentation, including monthly reports, in child/family's case record accurately and within established timeframes
Mediates, as needed, the relationship between the parents/caregivers and family
Provides intervention for clients in crisis
Participates in office team meetings
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must pass a drug screen, MVR, KBI, Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry Clearance check and an Adult Registry check
FBI Fingerprint check
Lifting requirement of 50 lbs
Must have a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record and reliable transportation
Mandated Reporter
Receives training in trauma informed practice and incorporates knowledge in day-to-day practice
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including on-call
Travel extensively throughout the state
Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
Understanding of family centered practice
Provides culturally sensitive engagement techniques
Efficiently address the challenges of relative care
Understanding of child and adolescent development
Must be a team player
Handles multiple priorities
Independent discretion/decision making within the scope and responsibility of the position
Manages emotions and can make decisions under pressure
Manages stress appropriately
Works alone effectively
Works in close proximity to others and/or in a distracting environment
Understanding of Kinship Policy and Procedures
Ability to engage families in working relationships
