We are seeking a talented, hands-on HTML Developer to create and optimize best-in-class email & web experiences for candidates seeking hourly jobs with Amazon. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, data-driven, customer-centric and technically proficient digital content developer that bridges the gap between front-end design and HTML/CSS coding.
Overview
Reporting to the Web Experience Manager, the HTML Developer will have ownership of, and lead HTML/CSS development for Amazon WFS Marketing in North America. In this role, you are responsible for delivering on the email and web tactics supporting non-paid traffic acquisition and journey orchestration efforts in the US, Canada, and Mexico, raising the bar for candidate communication globally.
The HTML Developer will be working with strategic partners across both technical and creative disciplines, and the ability to earn trust with key stakeholders is paramount. They will utilize a mix of technical, UX, and email marketing tactics to deliver on nonpaid traffic attribution goals. As a critical member of the Web Experience team, this role will have the opportunity to enhance the candidate experience in Amazon hiring communications and hiring websites, impacting millions of candidates monthly. The successful candidate will be seen as a subject matter expert by partner teams, and will actively promote HTML and web development best practices and standards throughout the organization, allowing Amazon hiring operations to scale efficiently globally.
The successful candidate will be an ambitious self-starter, who loves solving tough problems, and who has a deep passion for building world-class customer experiences using HTML & CSS. You will spend your days working cross-functionally to define, build, and test additions and updates to our email, web, and other digital experiences. You will be working directly in Amazon proprietary email management and CMS tools to create best-in-class candidate experiences, testing them across a variety of devices and browsers.
The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, is passionate about creating compelling digital experiences, and is experienced delivering results for enterprise email and website programs. The candidate is an expert in HTML, CSS, React, and other popular web languages, and understands the intersection between lifecycle, web, and automated, personalized user journeys. This candidate should have experience implementing HTML, CSS, and Javascript solutions for multi-language, multi-regional email and web campaigns. The HTML Developer relentlessly advocates for web development best practices and educates internal stakeholders as well as external customers.
Key Responsibilities
This role is perfect for a strategic and analytical person with a track record for effective customer-centric solutions, and will be responsible for:
  • Implementing and testing HTML/CSS for email templates and other candidate-facing communication.
  • Providing development support for website experiences.
  • Defining email and web development standards and contributing to SOPs, guidelines, and best practice documentation.
  • Testing code in multiple browsers and device variations for errors and compliance.
  • Adhering to CAN-SPAM and other required standards for email marketing.
  • Contributing to A/B and multivariate testing to improve email performance.
  • Understanding how Lifecycle, Content, CRO, UX, SEO, & Marketing Automation work together to create candidate journeys and enhance the candidate experience.
  • Diving into issues and incidents as they occur and performing ad hoc analyses to solve or escalate complex problems.
  • Ability to understand and execute creative HTML solutions for ambiguous problems.
  • Managing expectations of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Pursuing new opportunities to improve the candidate journey & experience across digital platforms.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest email & web development industry trends.
  • Being a thought leader in the space, responsible for raising the bar across Amazon PXT and the wider organization through case studies, thought leadership pieces, etc.
  • Working collaboratively with top-tier talent across WFS and Amazon PXT.

Basic Qualifications
  • 4+ years working in email and web development, with high-volume web/email experience
  • Mastery of HTML/CSS
  • Experience with email marketing tools, such as ConsantContact, Marketo, Eloqua, Salesforce, etc.
  • Working knowledge of analytics platforms, such as Google or Adobe Analytics, and the ability to analyse and understand data
  • Experience slicing, optimizing and exporting graphics
  • Well organized and detail oriented
  • Able to manage time and juggle competing priorities to execute high quality deliverables
  • Experience working closely with Creative, UX, and Engineering partners
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with major CMS platforms, such as WordPress or Adobe Experience Manager
  • Ability to develop relationships with stakeholders
  • Knowledge of Agile Methodologies, JIRA, GitHub, Asana, etc.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, etc.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experiencing leading email or web development efforts for an enterprise company
  • Proficient with common Javascript libraries, such as React and jQuery
  • Proficiency in MySQL and handling large database query sets
  • Experience using generative AI to drive scalable email and web solutions
  • Experience in journey orchestration, personalization, and marketing automation
  • Experience managing internal search and search tools
  • Ability to innovate and drive development for new marketing opportunities
  • Demonstrate a curious and positive attitude
  • Have capacity to work under pressure and be self-motivated
  • Have strong organizational skills, being able to manage multiple projects at once autonomously

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $64,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $155,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
