Freight Sales Representative

Your Role: The Freight Sales Representative will be responsible for contracting and managing external partner’s product movement through maintaining and growing relationships with freight brokers and shippers.

• Independently research and contract for profitable backhaul freight business to be moved on DTI equipment.
• Identify opportunities for consistent freight needs and lead initiatives with internal partners to execute backhauling within those lanes.
• Lead initiatives to ensure our team is meeting or exceeding key performance indicators such as empty miles percent, revenue, and billing/aging.
• Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to solicit feedback for process improvement.
• Maintain timely and professional communication with customer contacts on issues impacting service and overall performance.

Role Specifics:

• Occasional overnight travel required; ability to travel without restriction by all modes of transportation, including car, plane, or train.
• On-call telephone availability will be required 6-7 weeks annually with opportunity for flex-time during weeks on-call. Can be executed from anywhere with cell-phone/internet availability.

We Need You To Have:

• Four-year college degree or equivalent Dot Foods Experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Strong leadership, planning and organizational skills
• Effective problem solving skills
• Aptitude for strong selling and negotiating skills

We’d Like You To Have:

• Bachelor’s degree emphasized in logistics, supply-chain management, sales, or transportation
• Knowledge of federal guidelines on carriers and inter/intrastate commerce
• Ability to elicit desired behavior change with internal and external customers and vendors
