Position Summary 

The Freight Pay & Claims Auditor will provide leadership and knowledge in carrier invoice audit and payment process. The candidate will design processes to improve Freight Pay and Claims operation. This position will be responsible for implementing solutions to improve business performance and achieve strategic goals for ofi Freight Pay and Claims initiatives. The ideal candidate will be detail orientated, self-motivated, and possess strong communication skills.  They must be able to prioritize and execute multiple priorities and leverage their team to ensure success. 

Position Responsibilities 

  • Audits freight bills against freight inquiries. Reconciles statements and issues payment to vendors.
  • Checks all vouchers and obtains appropriate payment approval
  • Works closely with AP leadership team to reduce unnecessary rework
  • Provide feedback to Team Leaders related to inaccurate, misclassified content & billing adjustments
  • Ensure freight audits are timely and accurate utilizing ability to interpret tariffs and/or pricing agreements including contracts for all modes of transportation
  • Possess knowledge of general accounting principles, creating daily and weekly reports
  • Investigate each claim by gathering information, conducting interviews, taking statements, conducting website research as needed, reviewing, and analyzing reports and related bills.
  • Track communications and follow ups with transportation providers during the claims process
  • Identify and communicate reoccurring operations errors to management when applicable
  • Ensure timely and effective Freight Pay and Claims resolution
  • Provide outstanding customer service throughout every stage of the claims process
  • Responsible for ownership of month end accrual processes, month end close, and ensuring all freight expenses are properly identified paid and/or accrued in the correct fiscal period
  • Monitor and manage carrier invoice aging reports
  • Responsible for escalating and resolving invoice disputes and exceptions
  • Additional tasks as required

Position Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • Eight (8) years of experience in Freight Pay and Claims audit required  
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere, and successfully collaborate with internal and external stakeholders is required
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities is required.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and present effective and efficient solutions in a clear and concise manner to management is required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Excel, Outlook, and Word is required
