Freight Farm Assistant

Provides day-to-day support of the operations and growing of the College’s community Freight Farm. This position will help coordinate planting, cultivating, performing-post harvest duties all within an indoor growing container.
ESSENTIALPOSITIONFUNCTIONS:
1. Provides plant maintenance to include planting, nutrient regulation, computer monitoring of all facets of the garden.
2. Promotes proper safety procedures associated with the garden and greenhouse equipment.
3. Assists with the storage lab equipment.
4. Maintains watering cycles as needed; cleaning and disinfecting the waterers as needed.
5. Maintains the general appearance of the garden spaces.
6. Tracks progress details of planting, cultivating and harvesting duties.
7. Works with Continuing Education staff to maintain the Vertical Hydroponic Garden.
8. Recommends needed garden supplies.
9. Alerts department staff of day-to-day needs and situations.
10. Attend work activities or programs as scheduled or assigned.

6. Ability to recognize and work with various types of lab equipment associated with a Vertical Hydroponic Garden.

Associates Degree plus experience working with gardens, hydroponics, alternative growing techniques.

Equivalent combination of education and/or work-related experience considered.

Experience with project management, program development, and/or client services preferred.
