The U.S. Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC) is a 34,000-acre facility near Clay Center, NE. All work performed at USMARC supports research that is focused on solving high priority problems for the U.S. beef, sheep, and swine industries.
As the Livestock Data Technician, you will:
- Collect and compile livestock research data.
- Input and review data to identify concerns.
- Generate reports for livestock managers and other interested parties.
- Assist with training livestock handlers on data collection protocols.
- Work in both an office and outdoor setting in various weather conditions.
- Work in close proximity to livestock animals.
Due to the size of the facility, position requires the ability to drive to various locations on site. Within the UNL system, this position is categorized as an Ag Research Technician II.

Minimum Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in agriculture, ag business, livestock production systems, or related field plus two years of experience with livestock production and data collection
OR
- High school diploma plus four years of experience with livestock production and data collection.
- Proficiency with spreadsheet programs.
- Ability to learn software systems and/or database programs.
- Ability to gather and disseminate information following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Must have valid driver’s license and ability to meet University driver eligibility requirements.
Posted Salary $20.00/hr minimum
