Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Freight Associate to join our team. As a Freight Associate, you will be responsible for assisting with the shipping, receiving, and stocking of merchandise in our warehouse. Your attention to detail and organizational skills will be crucial in ensuring accurate inventory control and efficient operations. All employees, no matter the position must be able to operate the registers.
Duties:
- Receive incoming shipments and verify their contents against transfers
- Unload and unpack merchandise from delivery trucks
- Inspect items for damage or defects
- Assuring that dates are a factor when stocking shelves
- Sort and organize merchandise in designated storage areas
- Stock shelves and displays with new inventory in it's correct area
- Maintain accurate inventory records using computerized systems
- Step up and assist others that may need help
- Be a team player
- Other duties: assisting customers, retrieving shopping carts
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks, if trained and certified for forklift
Skills:
- Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate inventory control
- Attention to detail to ensure proper handling of merchandise
- Basic math skills for retail calculations such as pricing and discounts
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and customers
- Multilingual abilities are a plus for assisting diverse customer base
- Customer service mindset to provide assistance when needed
- Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures is preferred but not required
