Title: Freelance Writer

Job Summary
Barings is looking for a Freelance Writer to create and edit content for the Global Communications team for internal and social media use that effectively convey the organization’s priorities including its transformation and growth story — and drive engagement among the firm’s audiences especially employees. The ideal candidate will have experience writing a variety of communications materials, including internal newsletters, articles, web page copy, corporate video scripts, leadership talking points, digital signage and more. . The writer will use existing content to develop articles, or interview subject matter experts to create new content across a number of subjects including business profiles, human interest pieces, organizational changes, IT updates, leader messaging, etc. The writer will also edit content.
Primary Responsibilities
- Research, outline, write and edit Corporate Communications materials.
- Write engaging content for external social media channels based on internal stories.
- Synthesize existing materials into engaging content or interview subject matter experts to produce reportorial-style stories.
- Review and edit content written by Corporate Communications and other business partners.
- Contribute to content ideation and brainstorm sessions to inform writing projects.
Qualifications
- 7+ years communications experience. Newsroom experience preferred.
- Strong communication skills with experience writing for various mediums and ability to create content that is relevant to a variety of audiences.
- Excellent written, visual and oral communication skills.
- Self-starter, with strong multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
- Works well in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and manages and meets deadlines.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively across all levels of an organization and across time zones and global geographies.
- Familiarity with AP Style and working within corporate brand standards.
- Extensive knowledge of MS Office Suite (PPT, Word, Excel, SharePoint) with ability to quickly learn other applications, as necessary.
- Degree in communications, journalism, English, or related field.
Pay Rate: $60- $80 an Hour
