Steady freelance work that pays on time! SlashGear is looking for Freelance Automotive Writers to join our team. Ideal candidates have a background in engineering, mechanics, or experience working at an automaker, dealership, or supplier, and possess a deep understanding of the automotive industry, and vehicle engineering and technology in general. Ideal candidates also have at least three years of experience writing content for print or the web and have published work on topics including road safety and ADAS technology, autonomous driving, classic and heritage cars, or engine mechanics. We are looking for creative individuals who are self-sufficient and versatile. These positions are work-from-home with flexible, stable hours. Location does not matter; U.S. and international candidates and encouraged to apply.

Writer Responsibilities:

  • Claim news and evergreen article topics from a selection of assignments
  • Pitch relevant and timely news stories related to the site's areas of coverage
  • Research and write 300- to 900-word articles in a custom CMS
  • Write content on a quick turnaround as applicable
  • Follow our style guide, editorial strategy, and publishing standards to uphold quality of content

Experience Required:

  • A background in engineering, mechanics, or experience working at an automaker, dealership, or supplier
  • A deep understanding of the automotive industry, and vehicle engineering and technology in general
  • Minimum three years editorial experience writing and/or editing
  • Published work on topics including road safety and ADAS technology, autonomous driving, classic and heritage cars, or engine mechanics
  • Experience with building content in a CMS
  • Familiarity with the Associated Press Stylebook
