Job Description:
We are recruiting for six (6) Limited Duration assignments currently funded through June 30, 2024. Limited duration appointments are benefits eligible. These positions may be extended beyond this date and/or have continued funding approved in the future.

What Will You Do?
As the Fraud Investigator you will investigate individual cases of suspected fraud and follow-through appropriately to the circumstances.
In this role you will:
  • Review reports, requests for investigations, complaints or other allegations, and evaluate the specific issues and applicable statutes; and develop a plan to investigate.
  • Conduct fact finding according to the rules of evidence, obtain, verify, interpret and analyze any documentation as are required to prove or disprove the matter under investigation.
  • Adjudicate issues relevant to a fraudulent action perpetrated against the Employment Department and determine when the evidence is sufficient to conclude the case.
  • Answer claimant questions and/or give claimants instructions regarding the status of their claim, wage record discrepancies, claims procedures, or identify problems which prevent claim processing.

What We Are Looking For (Desired Attributes):
  • Experience interpreting policies, regulations, and laws with the ability to explain technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Ability to manage your own time efficiently and deliver work on schedule.
  • Prior work experience in Unemployment Insurance.
  • Ability to identify key factors and integrate information to understand data or situations and create innovative approaches.
  • Ability to accept and adapt to changes without difficulty when roles and situations are not clearly defined.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two years of recent (within the last five years) investigative experience which included gathering facts, collecting evidence, examining records, and conducting interviews to verify or disprove claims of suspected law violations.

OR
  • Two years of adjudicating experience identifying issues; conducting investigations; documenting pertinent facts; applying laws, administrative rules, regulations, and policies; and writing administrative decisions.

Note: College-level courses in law enforcement, criminal justice, law, accounting, auditing, or a closely-related field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to one year of the required experience.

  • These are Limited Duration assignments currently funded through June 30, 2024. Limited duration appointments are regular status and benefits eligible. Upon budget approval, these positions may be extended through June 30, 2025.
