aVenture is a San Francisco, California (USA) based financial technology startup building the future of venture capital research software. Our mission is to make venture capital investing more accessible and safer for everyone with better data.
aVenture is currently participating in the prestigious Techstars New York City accelerator (where less than 1% of startup/founder applicants are admitted) and is looking for an exceptional Head of research to join our founding team. Joining our team would instantly bring you into the Techstars program and all of its resources for life.
A successful candidate accepting this position should expect to spend time in San Francisco or NYC to work closely with the team.
1. Key Responsibilities:
Architect the Research Platform: Design and build a groundbreaking VC research platform, powered by AI/LLMs, to collect, analyze, and visualize data about venture-backed startups across your chosen universe
Uncover Hidden Gems: Drive the platform's development, ensuring it captures previously unavailable data points through innovative research activities and AI/LLM integration, revealing promising startups even with limited public information
Lead the Research Charge: Manage and mentor future analysts, guiding them in enhancing the platform and conducting in-depth research to produce new insights
Shape the Investor Narrative: Craft compelling data-driven insights and market reports, establishing aVenture as the go-to source for unique VC research and thought leadership
Evangelize the Platform: Actively engage with investors, venture firms, and media outlets, showcasing the platform's capabilities and driving user adoption
Innovate Constantly: Stay at the forefront of AI/LLM advancements, continuously iterating the platform and integrating new technologies to maximize its research power
2. Requirements:
VC Research Guru: 5+ years of experience in venture capital/private equity research with a proven track record of identifying impactful startups and analyzing complex data
Tech-Savvy Innovator: Strong understanding of AI/LLM potential and practical experience applying these technologies to business problems
Platform Visionary: Ability to conceptualize and architect a user-friendly research platform, integrating data analysis and AI/LLM capabilities seamlessly
Storytelling Genius: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, translating complex data into actionable insights and captivating narratives
Team Builder and Mentor: Proven leadership skills, capable of fostering a collaborative and high-performing research team
Startup Spirit: Possess an entrepreneurial mindset, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and embrace constant learning and iteration
3. What We Offer:
An Early Opportunity: A founding role at a fintech backed by Techstars based in Silicon Valley and led by an experienced fintech CEO with a previous successful exit for the founding team
Unleash your Innovation: Drive and lead advances in VC research, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in the field
Compensation: This position is to join our founding team and has a tiered approach to compensation, providing an initial salary of $50,000 - $100,000, plus an equity issuance of 5-10% of the company's stock
Companies backed by Techstars typically go on to raise an investment round of > $1,000,000 following program completion and demo day. Salary and compensation will be adjusted to reflect market rates following the next fundraising round.
