Hunsicker is a Kentucky based venture studio that creates, founds, and invests in the next generation of purpose driven startups. To accomplish this, we execute a rigorous venture-building process that utilizes deep research around fundamental societal problems to identify opportunities where technology may enable new, more efficient or effective operating models and/or improved products or services.
Hunsicker is committed to founding and building our ventures in Kentucky. There we can tap a highly supportive network of potential customers within critical industries poised to grow over the coming decades.
We are headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky. The Founding Full-Stack Engineer must live and work in Lexington or within a reasonable commuting radius that supports being onsite for the majority of their time. The physical proximity to the Kentucky ecosystem is a necessary element in leveraging the region’s relational and industry advantage.
Family caregivers are the silent heroes of healthcare, often overlooked but integral in shaping patient outcomes. According to a report by AARP, there are over 40 million unpaid caregivers in the U.S., delivering assistance to adults with limitations in daily activities. Despite their critical role:
- 80% report emotional stress.
- 50% have limited access to external support services.
- 60% juggle full-time jobs alongside caregiving, leading to burnout and health issues.
These numbers aren’t just statistics; they depict a stark reality, a rising wave of challenges met with limited support. It’s here, amidst this growing crisis, that lies an unmatched opportunity: to leverage technology in bridging these gaps, ensuring caregivers aren’t just working but thriving.
Our vision is to create a digital ecosystem tailored to uplift caregivers by providing real-time support, essential resources, and the facilitation of collaborative care. With this vision in mind, we are hiring two founding team members, a Founding Full-Stack Engineer and a Founding Product Designer.
As the Founding Full-Stack-Engineer, you are at the forefront of this ambitious endeavor, taking the helm in building this concept into a user-centric product.
What You'll Do
- Architect & Build: Lead the technical development of our platform's MVP, working across the stack - backend, frontend, and infrastructure.
- Engage in User-Centric Development: Work closely with our pilot partners, clinicians, patients, and the product team to create elegant technical solutions to their problems.
- Define Technical Strategy: Craft a medium-term technical strategy, incorporating business needs, user feedback, and the flexibility required in an early-stage startup.
- Data Engineering: Develop a strategy to synthesize data from disparate sources into an analysis-ready state, ensuring seamless data integrations.
- Technology Exploration: Identify practical use cases for recent breakthroughs in Large Language Models (LLMs) and related technology.
- Team Building & Culture: Help recruit additional technical team members, establishing a collaborative technical culture with best practices and norms.
What You Bring
- Full-Stack Expertise: 5+ years of full-time software development experience, with proficiency in both back-end and front-end web technologies.
- Scripting & Automation: Experience with scripting languages like Python and automation tools.
- Cloud Computing: Familiarity with cloud-based computing platforms like AWS, Azur, or Google Cloud.
- Database Management: Experience with multiple database management systems.
- Security-Minded: Experience working in regulated spaces requiring a security-first approach, ensuring the integrity of Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Problem-Solving Acumen: Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills with great attention to detail.
