Job description

The Fort Lewis College campus sits atop a stunning mesa overlooking historic downtown Durango, the Animas River, and the San Juan Mountains. With boundless access to wilderness and an unparalleled natural laboratory, FLC's accessible, high-quality degree programs are shaped to address the unique resources and challenges of the Four Corners. Areas of study include the arts, business, education, health sciences, humanities, social and natural sciences, and teacher education.

Our 3,300 students come from all 50 states, 12 countries, and 185 Native American tribes and Alaska Native Villages. Nearly 60% of our student body is made up of students of color. We are one of two non-tribal colleges in the country who offer a tuition waiver to Native Americans and hold a deep commitment to continued nurturing of our native communities and traditions. This is not possible without the contributions of every faculty and staff member helping to cultivate FLC's diverse community.

The FLC Vision

Guided by a passionate president and supportive Board of Trustees, FLC moves toward a sustainable future on the pillars of a fresh-off-the-press strategic plan launched in early 2019 and refreshed in 2022. President Tom Stritikus listened intently to feedback from faculty, staff, students, and the community to craft four major areas of focus, defining and utilizing systems to facilitate success in keeping students at the center of our mission and extending to community engagement and scholars in action.

Benefits of Working at FLC

In addition to some of the best employee benefits offered in the Four Corners region, as a new staff or faculty member, you become a part of an extended family. The campus community is surrounded by the great outdoors while still being part of the creative community of Durango, Colorado, tasty food, and seasonal festivities. With 300 miles of trail and more than 300 days of sunshine a year, Durango basks as the gem of Southwest Colorado. This colorful community of 18,500 people rests along the free-flowing Animas River. While people come for the mountain-town lifestyle of "work hard, play hard," they stay for the community, the culture, and the opportunity to root down and make your mark on the region's heart of all things wild, original, and so Durango. Come for a visit. Stay forever.
