Job Description – Forklift/Bobcat Operator
As a forklift and/or bobcat operator, you will be responsible for the safe operation of a forklift and/or bobcat, and you will work with shipping and receiving to assist in loading and unloading baled recycled materials you will also sort materials as needed.
You should be someone who enjoys working in a production setting. You must have consistent, reliable attendance and practice Safety First, Last and Always!
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates forklift and bobcat in accordance with Royal Oak Recycling and OSHA guidelines.
- Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient and safe manner.
- Load, unload, move and stage baled materials using forklifts or bobcat.
- Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
- Complete daily inspection of equipment.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- One year of prior experience operating a forklift or bobcat.
- Previous forklift certification preferred.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Forklift operator certificate or satisfactory completion of a forklift-training program within the first 30 days of employment
- Six months warehouse experience
- Six months forklift and bobcat operation
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Identifies and transports requested materials to and from various locations including machines, loading docks, trucks, and storage areas approximately 80% of shift.
· Obtains production schedule and/or shipping orders and then identifies, verifies, and transports requested raw materials, equipment, or processing materials accordingly.
· Applies understanding of machine loading capacity and loading schedule, ensuring prompt and efficient delivery of required items.
· Uses protective materials and strapping equipment to protect and secure loads; once delivered, removes strapping and wrapping, then safely disposes of waste materials in designated containers or areas.
· Reports any problems with materials or equipment to supervisor.
· Manages and piles drums, skids, pallets, bales, and other supplies in specified areas.
· Services equipment as needed, reporting mechanical or electrical difficulties plant manager.
· Performs other related duties as requested.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Basic (9 th grade) math, language, and reading skills.
· Ability to handle equipment and vehicles safely and sensibly.
Education and Experience:
· Satisfactorily pass forklift driving training program or demonstrate safe handling of forklift in an on-site test.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to maintain single-task focus and situational awareness.
· Must be able to move and lift up to 40-pounds.
