Job purpose
Move packages and materials around the facility utilizing a Powered Industrial Truck (forklift). This position could involve driving around warehouse, storage spaces, and loading/unloading of products on trucks with the goal of ensuring that the material and products will always be at the right place without damage, so production runs smoothly.
Duties and responsibilities
- Unload materials and products from incoming vehicles and storing them in assigned places.
- Affixes labels identifying information on crates or containers and coil stock
- Log in coil stock
- Breakdown and repair skids, cores and other packing materials and disposing them in the proper locations
- Identify damages, reporting shortages or quality deficiencies
- Comparing information and counts, weights, or measurements on items of incoming and outgoing shipments, to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
- Perform basic quality tests on incoming coils
- Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selected preassembled containers for shipment
- Insert product into containers
- Nail covers on wooden crates and bind containers with metal banding
- Post weights and shipping charges
- Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications
- Transports coil and materials to Production workstations
- Load coils and coil stands
- Returning coils to proper inventory location
- Routing items to various departments
- Inspect machinery to determine the need for repair and guarantee safety by performing daily safety and maintenance inspections of the forklift
- Comply with all company policies and legal guidelines
- Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facilities
- Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Able to read and use a tape measure.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Ability to operate fork truck.
