ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following:
- Perform tasks related to all aspects of consular and visa-related issues with the Indian Embassy,
- Serve as a working level liaison with OFM and OBO on construction and facilities related issues involving the U.S. Mission in India and the Indian Embassy in Washington
- Serve as a working level liaison with the Bureau of Consular Affairs, OFM, and OBO
- Serve as the point of contact for official USG travelers applying for official or diplomatic visas to visit India.
- Review and provide assistance with USG applications for official Indian visas.
- Monitor and coordinate CA bureau positions on visa reciprocity and changes in U.S. visa policies.
- Maintain and disseminate guidance on requirements for USG applicants for Indian visas.
- Prepare reports and briefing memoranda for SCA principals on consular and management-related issues involving the Indian government.
- Supervise the e-Country Clearance process for India and Bhutan and provide guidance to official USG travelers.
- Interface with CA on Indian visa applicants requiring Security Advisory Opinions.
- As directed by SCA leadership and Mission India, work with CA to expedite priority U.S. visa applications by Indian officials.
- Serve as back up on human rights-related reports and policy issues involving India.
- Assist with briefing materials and logistical arrangements for high level Indian government visitors.
- Review DOS visa applications, draft visa request memos for processing. Prepare, scan and file copies of all materials included in submission.
- Liaise with DOS offices to receive visa application materials.
EDUCATON AND EXPERIENCE
- Must be customer-service oriented, dependable, attentive to detail and willing to assist other team members, as workloads require.
- Ability to interact with Foreign Service Officers, Civil Service employees, and Contractor staff in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure and adhere to short deadlines.
- Must have strong organization skills to manage portfolio and track multiple tasks and projects.
- Strong writing skills and the ability to prepare professional emails quickly.
- Ability to provide oral guidance in a group setting.
- Willingness to learn new tasks that arise.
- Must be willing to work as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
- Previous experience working with the federal government preferred, but not required.
