Join the City of National City's Nutrition Center staff in preparing and serving freshly prepared meals to our senior citizen community. The Nutrition Center has an immediate need to fill one (1) vacancy for a part-time Food Services Worker. This list may also be used to fill future vacancies.

THE DEPARTMENT:
The Library & Community Services Department provides services for all community members for their lifelong learning and growth. The department encompasses the Library, Recreation Services and Senior Services, including the Senior Nutrition Program. The Library & Community Services Department provides information, resources, programs and community engagement for all residents.
THE POSITION:
Under the general supervision of the Executive Chef, to perform a variety of unskilled duties, assuming responsibility for all aspects of preparation for serving and cleaning the kitchen and dining facility; and perform related work as necessary.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Employees in this position are typically scheduled Monday through Friday.
BENEFITS: This is a part-time, non-benefited position.
NOTE:
The Food Services Worker classification is scheduled to receive a wage increase of 6.84% effective the first full pay period in January 2024.

- Assists in preparing main meals.
- Cleans and prepares fruits and vegetables for cooking.
- Prepares salads, drinks, and simple desserts (i.e. gelatin and pudding).
- Portions all food items and ensure proper temperatures are maintained in accordance with basic food safety as taught in the required Food Handlers' Class.
- Cleans basic kitchen equipment including pots, pans, and dishes.
- Cleans and sweeps floors when needed.
- Vacuums dining area and entrance when needed.
- Assists in serving prepared food on serving line and serves in dining room when needed.
- Operates kitchen equipment (e.g., potato peeler, mixer, blender, steamer, kettle, coffee machine).
- Operates equipment in a safe manner and makes minor adjustments to equipment.
- May assist in unloading and putting away items.
- Performs other related duties as necessary, including but not limited to receiving food and dry goods.
Minimum Qualifications
