General Description

The Orange County Department on Aging has an opening for a Food Services Coordinator. This position is a permanent part-time, fully benefited position.The work involves the responsibility for the planning, managing, and implementing the food program for clientele/patrons of the Department on Aging. An employee in this class is responsible for developing, organizing, promoting, and supervising the daily operations of the lunch program, and keeping accurate participant counts and grants management for State/Federal reporting and financial reimbursements.
Work is performed under the general direction of the Senior Centers Administrator with leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in the performance of duties, both in terms of planning and accomplishing work, and in making decisions regarding customer needs and requests and conducting project assignments. Supervision over others is required of this position. Position does related work as required.

Manages the daily operations of Department on Aging’s daily lunch program; collaborates with caterer to prepare menus in accordance with RDA standards and monitors for food safety and sanitation.
Collects contributions and prepares financial reports according to the number of participants attending; enters participant counts into the NC State system for reimbursements and maintains data files and all grant reporting documentation for annual on-site monitoring visit by the Area Agency on Aging.
Remains available to participants for problem solving and feedback; and adjusts programs as needed.
Supervises staff including assigning work to the lunch site Managers and Assistant Managers (temporary position staff), volunteers and Title V staff; monitoring sanitation adherence and program standards, tracking hours for payroll, and reporting and State and Federal funding reimbursement purposes.
Orders meals for the lunch program at both Aging facilities; works with the Lunch Site Managers to track accurate meal counts, monitor volunteers and ensure equipment is operationally sound and required supplies are on hand.
Tracks and maintains inventory of tableware, linens, protective equipment, cleaning supplies, and serving utensils, replenishing through timely purchasing as inventory demands as needed.
Prepares reports (i.e., daily participant attendance, contribution totals, daily temperature control of meals and attendance to special programs) for reimbursement of State and Federal funding, as well as, for grants.
Monitors and adheres to the allocated budget.
Works with Department on Aging staff to prepare food trays for meetings and events; works with program leaders in order to prepare for participation with the lunch program and purchasing supplies.
Maintains up-to-date participant information in the State software system.
Administers the Senior Farmers Market Voucher Program annually, including qualifying applicants for the program and completing Federal/State program administration documents.
Maintains Safe -Serv training.
Adheres to the department’s safety rules and regulations.
Uses computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail, and database software in performing work assignments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree from an accredited college or university AND two (2) years of work experience in managing the delivery of a lunch program and related grant programs; and work experience in directly supervising support staff or volunteers.
Must possess SafeServ Certification.
Experience working with populations of various ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds, preferably the aged population is preferred.
An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined above. A higher degree does not substitute for work experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
All offers of employment are conditioned upon successful clearance of a background check. Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND POSSIBLE HAZARDS
Ability to physically perform (with or without reasonable accommodation) basic life operational functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions of the hands/wrists.
Ability to perform sedentary work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Must possess the visual acuity to prepare and analyze data and figures, perform transcription, and operate a computer terminal.
Workers are subject to inside environmental conditions.
Workers are exposed to chemicals that may or may not cause burns or irritation to skin, respiratory system, or eyes.
