General Description:This position is an integral part of our dining operations staff. Led by experienced culinary professionals, we offer staff the opportunity to work in a facility that is committed to using quality ingredients and processes. This position plays an integral role in accomplishing this goal by assisting in the preparation and service of food. This position also assists in maintaining a friendly and orderly environment in the dining areas by greeting customers as they enter, and assisting with questions and service needs.

Minimum Education/Experience:High School Diploma/GED
Minimum (6) months of experience in food preparation in a commercial setting.
Individual must possess knowledge, skills, and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge skills and abilities.
Knowledge of food sanitation policies and procedures is required.
Experience working in a fast paced commercial kitchen preferred.
Be respectful and courteous to co-workers, customers, visitors, managers and others. Communicate clearly and professionally.
Must be able to establish cooperative working relationships and work well with minimal supervision.
Use organizational and time management skills. Take initiative in the performance of your work tasks, and be willing to assist others as needed.

Work Hours:The regular hours for this full-time position may be a set or variable schedule based on business needs. Over time, holiday, weekend and evening work hours may be required. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement):Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation of meats, fish, vegetables, pasta, salads, desserts, and other foods for serving (cleaning, peeling, mincing, chopping, dicing, slicing, thawing, portioning, and panning), following established safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures.
Grill and deep fry food items. Perform simple cooking of products such as eggs, pancakes, sandwiches, and pizza.
Clean and sanitize the work area.
Work with the chef to maintain HACCP logs.
Use the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as cutting gloves, to clean all knives and equipment blades in the area.
Follows proper food preparation and sanitation directives as established by the Health Department. Comply with internal policies and procedures as they apply to food, sanitation, and safety within the Dining Services department. This includes, but is not limited to, keeping work area clean, properly/safely using equipment and keeping floor free of food/liquid that may be a potential safety hazard, adhering to agreed work schedule.
