Job Summary
The Food Service Worker is responsible for assigned duties including cashiering (if assigned), sanitizing work area and equipment, safe handling in the preparation of food and equipment, portion control, presentation of food. This position reports to the Cook-Manager, Assistant Cook-Manager and Food Service Director.
Performance Requirements:
- Experience in food preparation and safe handling of food and equipment
- Ability to attain sanitation certification (optional)
- Lift 40 lbs
- Operate POS (Nutri kids cashing system)
Duties Include:
- Food preparation
- Follow guidelines and recipe cards to assure quality and consistency.
- Prepare sufficient quantities in a timely manner for each lunch wave.
- Minimize excess production to avoid waste.
- Maintain the five-component lunch for proper nutrition in all cases. Understand offer v serve.
- Serving
- Maintain food at proper temperature.
- Present food in an attractive and appealing manner.
- Avoid backups on serving line by assuring that food and equipment is ready on time.
- Maintain proper temperatures for food. Cold food cold and hot food hot.
- Storage
- Use FIFO (first in – first out) system to avoid "out of code" food items.
- Keep refrigerators, freezers and storage areas neat and organized.
- Sanitation
- Assure that all food storage, handling and preparation is performed under sanitary conditions.
- Assure that all equipment and utensils are properly sanitized.
- Dishwashing as needed, both hand and machine.
- Communication and cooperation
- Clear and specific communication.
- Be able to work as a team member to assigned kitchen and the Berlin School Lunch Program.
- Exercise great teamwork skills.

Terms of Employment:
Monday - Friday; 3.75 hrs per day (9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.) Starting hourly rate of $15.69. After 90-calendar day probationary period, hourly rate increases to $17.20.

Pay: $15.69 - $17.20 per hour
Expected hours: 18.75 per week
