Organization Overview

PUC National is a non-profit organization that serves to promote, support, benefit, replicate, and carry out the purposes and mission of Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools.

We have a contractual relationship with Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools to provide a variety of support services to the schools in NE Los Angeles and the NE San Fernando Valley. This includes but is not limited to Finance, Human Resources, Operations, IT and Data Management, facilities identification and acquisition, fundraising, grant management, college access, alumni relations, charter development and renewal, and compliance.

The Team Member we are searching for

The ideal Food Service Operations Assistant believes in and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC National and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection, and collaboration to ensure schools' success across the organization.

What you will need to accomplish:

  • Ensure and monitor the timely and accurate sorting, distribution, retention, and maintenance of financial, statistical, and official records, documents, and reports including but not limited to pay and commercial warrants and payroll time reports in accordance with established policies and procedures and quality control standards
  • Collect, compile, compare, classify, tabulate, and record financial, statistical, and official documents and report, check, and verify for format, accuracy, and completeness prior to distribution and for archival purposes
  • Ensure appropriate electronic storage and management of documents and reports in electronic document management systems
  • Compose and review a variety of reports, correspondence, memos, forms, logs, and written materials
  • Support PUC Schools office staff with troubleshooting and solving problems related to POS system and monthly reports
  • Make in-person visits to school campuses as needed
  • Respond to requests and inquiries relating to the functions and activities within the Food Services department, including assigned tickets, to further support schools and staff
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and secure records and documents in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Interpret, train, and advise school staff on policies, regulations, and operational procedures
  • Maintain equipment inventory and initiate processes for the acquisition of materials, equipment, and supplies relating to Food Services
  • Conduct and attend staff meetings related to office operations, workflow, and priorities
  • Organize all documentation related to food delivery and issues related to Food Services/vendors
  • Organize Food Services Department monthly calendar to ensure meetings are scheduled with school leaders, office managers, and Food Service staff
  • Support with the translation of documentation in Spanish and assist with creating the LWP Update three times a year
  • Able to attend the annual School Nutrition Association Conference and other trainings required by CDE/NSLP
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications

What do we require from you?

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, related field, or equivalent training and experience required

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in an educational setting/Food Service Operations
  • Previous experience in procedures and regulations of employee selection, training, and performance evaluation preferred
  • Knowledge of concepts and application of scheduling and time management preferred
  • Analyzing and interpreting data previous experience drawing meaning and conclusions from quantitative and/or qualitative data preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of general office practices, procedures, and equipment, including clerical record-keeping, filing, and distribution systems and techniques
  • Excellent customer service Skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Familiarity with Point of Sale (POS) systems
  • Proficient with the California Nutrition Information and Payment System (CNIPS) or willing to learn how to utilize CNIPS for state reimbursement purposes
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Must be flexible and team-oriented
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Strong work ethic, accountability, and ownership of work
  • Regular attendance, dependability, and punctuality in conformance with the standards are essential to the successful performance of this position

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally required to kneel, climb, and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, lift up to 30 pounds. To bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms at shoulder level or below. Always required to wear the appropriate safety equipment for the task, which may include gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.
