We are looking for an individual who is eager to serve children as the Food Program Specialist in our Little Rock Preschool.

What you will do:
This role is responsible for administering the USDA Food Program for the respective developmental preschool center, which includes planning and preparation of daily meals and snacks.

  • Ensures each meal and snack meets USDA requirements in regard to substance and serving sizes
  • Completes and maintains Food Manager Certification training
  • Completes inventory, ordering, and maintains budget of all food and kitchen supplies at each site; ensures food and supplies are ordered and obtained in a timely manner, and budget is maintained on a monthly basis.
  • Is familiar with the company's policies, procedures, and guidelines, as well as those requirements set forth by regulatory agencies, including EIDT, AR Child Care Licensing, USDA, and the AR Health Department
  • Completes USDA paperwork and ensures all paperwork, such as production records, budget records, daily reports, and monthly reports, is submitted in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ensures confidentiality of children and employee information; responds to internal and external requests for information according to clinic policy
  • Represents the program to parents, visitors. And the public in a positive way
  • Attends multidisciplinary conferences as needed
  • Assists with other classroom duties as required by site needs

Meal Service and Delivery:

  • Follows all meal service standard operating procedures (SOP)
  • Prepares breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack daily
  • Ensures meal delivery to each classroom at designated time
  • Ensures accurate temperature logs are kept daily on all refrigerators and freezers containing food for children
  • Ensures all food is labeled with a date before storing
  • Maintains of all stocked food and supplies
  • Ensures gloves are worn during any food preparation
  • Oversees meal modifications for all dietary and nutritional needs

Cleanliness and Organization:

  • Ensures kitchen workspace, appliances, and storage areas are kept neat and clean
  • Ensures all dishes and/or utensils are washed after each use per guidelines
  • Immediately reports any information regarding health and safety concerns to the Site Administration
  • May perform other related and non-related duties, as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ year of kitchen/nutritional/food preparation experience (preferred)

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to walk, sit, use hands and fingers to handle, lift, feel, and reach. The employee is frequently required to stand and stoop, twist, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to maintain regular and punctual attendance. The employee is required to complete tasks in a timely manner.
