Position Objective
The Food Pantry Specialist leads the effective and efficient daily operations of the Food Pantry and provides customer-friendly service to our guests, in a positive environment. We offer the services of our Crisis Navigation personnel, when available, to assist our guests in getting connected with needed resources.
Essential Responsibilities
Ø Management of pantry food processes, including, but not limited to ensuring adequate supply of food items, receipt of donated food, monitoring inventory, removal of outdated items and timely communication of needs with supervision.
Ø Greet and welcome Food Pantry guests, in-person and via phone.
Ø Conduct intake of persons seeking assistance, enter information into client tracking database. If applicable, determine eligibility for services.
Ø In collaboration with our volunteers, explain our Food Pantry procedures and assist guests with shopping.
Ø Train and supervise pantry volunteers.
Ø Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the Food Pantry.
Ø Track appropriate data for monthly statistics, grant and other reporting needs, including the weight of incoming food donations.
Ø Develop and maintain relationships with community partners interested in engaging with the Food Pantry ministry.
Ø If applicable, maintain a supply of hygiene kits, homeless snack packs and any other resources that we are able to offer to pantry guests.
Ø Performs other related duties, as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications
Ø High school diploma required or general equivalency degree (GED), with at 1-3 years of experience in a social services environment preferred.
Ø Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Ø Maintain a current driver's license, with the ability to travel within the Diocese of Toledo.
Ø Successful BCI/FBI background check, prior to employment and every 5 years.

Working Conditions
Ø This position generally works in an office environment and uses standard computers and office equipment.
Ø While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee may regularly be required to stand, walk, sit,
use hands, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and listen.
Ø The employee may need to regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds.
Ø The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
