As the Care Center gleaner you will be responsible for procuring rescue products from grocery stores and partners and delivering them to the Care Center and nearby food pantries in conjunction with the Greater Chicago Food Depository Rescue Hub Program.
The salary range for this position is about $15 per hour - $21 per hour depending on experience and skills set. The role is around 10-15 hours per week. Our part time benefits package includes retirement savings plans, paid time off Dec 26th - Jan 1 and the week of July 4th, mental health counseling reimbursement, accrued paid leave and more.
Job Responsibilities
- Travel assigned route in the Care Center refrigerated box truck to pick up donated food items from donors
- Transport and unload food at designation distribution sites in a timely manner
- Inspect food for quality and safety and discards unusable food items
- Follow all food safety guidelines in handling, storage, and distribution
- Maintain accurate records of types and quantities of food collected and distributed on standard forms
- Collaborate with Food Coordinator to recruit & train a team of volunteer gleaners to assist with the rescue hub program and other gleaning partnerships
