Job Description
We are looking for Flood Irrigation Technicians for our second (2:00pm-10:30pm) and third shifts (10:00pm-6:30am with a $1.50 an hour shift differential) We do on-the-job training so experience is preferred but not required. While there are other tasks, the majority function of the technician is to open and close large 8" - 14" valves that provide Flood Irrigation to our homeowners according to a printed schedule. Our water comes from 2 wellsites and is delivered via closed pipes and valves versus an open canal system. These positions have the ability to grow into a repair technician position as you gain familiarity with our system and components.
Requirements:
*Clear MVD and insurable since you will be driving a District vehicle. All of our vehicles are equipped with GPS.
*Be comfortable with directions (north, south, east, and west) even at night
*There will be a lot of exiting and entering the vehicle, as well as some short ladder climbing to access valves over block walls. The work is not physically strenuous but it is constant throughout the shift.
*Ability to make phone calls with the company phone to communicate with homeowners when to expect their irrigation.
*Must be able to multi-task - noting times, coordinating when to open/close valves, calls to homeowners, setups for the next line, driving safely
We are Sunburst Farms Irrigation District, an 828 acre District with 648 one- and two-acre lots. We're roughly bounded by 39th Avenue to the east, 51st Avenue to the west, Paradise Lane to the north and Acoma to the south. We've been here since the early 1970's, as have many of our homeowners, enjoying the urban farm life in the middle of the Valley. It's a beautiful place to work!
