PURPOSE OF JOB:
Receives and prepares samples for laboratory analysis and tests. Prepares samples, sets up instruments, runs tests and reads, interprets and releases results. May perform a variety of client service activities for internal and external stakeholders.
Shift: 8am-6pm Mon-Friday (will be Sunday travel sometimes to be there Monday morning)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Must be proficient in at least three clinical areas including Hematology Tech IV (specific job descriptions relevant to the position will be provided).
- Process samples and prepare samples for send out.
- Perform all required quality control per QA guidelines.
- Train on all areas to include Processing, Chemistry, Hematology, UA and Coag according to all SOP’s.
- Oversee the entering and releasing of results.
- Responsible for the performance of tests such as Chemistry –Olympus, T4-Olympus, CBC-Advia, Progesterone, PT, PTT, Platelet count, Reticulocytes and UA.
- Participate in all departmental training programs.
- Reconcile pending list.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

TESTS PERFORMED:
- Chemistry:
- General Chemistry Panels, Urine Chemistry Panels, CSF, T4, Bile Acids, Phe Nobarb, Fructosamine, Progesterone, Cortisol
- Hematology:
- PT, PTT, CBC, Manual Differentials, Reticulocyte, CSF-Counts, Avian CBC
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or MLT Degree in related field with a minimum of 1 year clinical laboratory experience in Hematology
- Qualify as a Hematology Tech IV
- Qualify as a Tech II in Chemistry, Parasitology and Serology
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Laboratory skills and experience
- General science background
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skill
- Personal computer skills, strong typing ability, and knowledge of Microsoft Office
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Extensive sitting, phone, and computer use
- Capable of standing continuously for up to 2 hours
- Extend and reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers
- Occasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch
- May be required to lift, move, and carry up to 20 lbs.
- Heavy microscopic work
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Hearing ability to effectively communicate via the telephone and in person
- Ability to communicate verbally on the phone and in person
- Fluency in the English language
- Extended hours may be needed including both AM and PM shifts
- Ability to travel nationally
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Laboratory environment with potential biohazards present
- Use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the National Hazard Communication Standards
