Summary
The Flight Crew Operations Safety Investigator's primary responsibility is to lead internal investigations and assist in the prevention of accidents and incidents involving Allegiant Flight Crew operations. Investigations include a reporting of facts, conditions, and circumstances relating to each event and determining causal factors leading to the identification of hazards. These duties and responsibilities require a broad technical knowledge in aviation, including experience and knowledge in investigative techniques. The Flight Crew Operations Safety Investigator will act as the principal specialist for accident and incident investigations and be responsible for executing reports and presentations for Senior Leadership, Board Members, and/or external parties.

Minimum Requirements
Combination of Education and Experience will be considered. Must be authorized to work in the US as defined by the Immigration Act of 1986. Must pass a Criminal Background Check.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Safety, Human Factors, or a related field.
Certification: Airline Transport Pilot (ATP); A320 Type Rating Preferred.
Years of Experience:
- Minimum five (5) years of aviation experience and data analysis with expert knowledge of safety, airline operations, data analysis, and/or safety investigations experience.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience conducting or leading investigations and/or aviation audits.
•Meticulous, highly observant, and strong attention to detail.
•Demonstrated ability to work in a stressful environment for long periods of time.
•Knowledge of 14 CFR Part 117.
•Knowledge of Fatigue Risk Management Programs or Fatigue Risk Management Systems.
•Knowledge of Safety Management Systems.
•Project management and data analysis skills.
•Prior experience in a 14 CFR Part 121 Safety Investigations program or one or more of the FAA's Voluntary Flight Safety Programs such as FOQA, ASAP, FRMS, or an equivalent safety reporting program required as part of an approved SMS.
•Expert knowledge of regulations governing commercial aviation.
•Formal safety and/or accident investigation training.
•Self-driven and results-oriented.
•Flexibility to changing priorities.
•Travel Required up to 25%.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
•Proficiency with business intelligence and/or data reporting tools (PowerBI and/or Tableau).
•An understanding of aviation-related technical writing.
•Exceptional interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with various levels of management, external business partners, and regulatory agencies.
•Ability to gather, organize, analyze, and interpret information.
•Familiarity with National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and ICAO regulations.
•Presentation and oral communication skills.
Preferred Requirements
•Master's Degree in Aviation Safety.
•Pilot/Dispatcher Certification.
•Accident Investigation Certification.
•FAA Advanced and Instrument Ground Instructor Licenses.
•Accident investigation coursework/experience in aviation accident investigations.
Job Duties
•Lead in internal Flight Crew Operations Safety investigations to determine threats and errors leading to the identification of hazards.
•Lead internal on-scene investigations.
•Monitor the operating environment by assessing the severity of operational events.
•Track all significant operational safety events and include the data in the company Safety Database AirSMS, and other internal company systems (i.e. JIRA, Tableau, PowerBI).
•Support established Flight Crew Operations Programs to include hazard identification and incident/accident prevention.
•Maintain a close relationship with the Manager of Emergency Response in developing and maintaining Emergency Response documents and manuals.
•Deploy as a member of the Emergency Response Investigation Go-Team to any destination that has a serious incident or accident.
•Analyze flight data and other information in support of investigations.
•Support the Aviation Safety Programs (ASAPs) as requested by the Event Review Committees (ERCs).
•Research regulatory issues on a particular event.
•Collect and analyze safety event data to raise awareness of operational risks and facilitate the application of corrective actions to mitigate those risks.
•Assist domestic (NTSB and FAA) and international regulatory entities in support of aircraft investigations.
•Work with regulatory compliance to notify the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), and key management personnel of significant events.
•Develop and maintain safety performance and safety program metrics.
•Review associated safety reports and audits to identify emerging areas requiring more detailed analysis (i.e., investigations, audits, inquiries).
•Interface with all operating departments to share and present investigation results.
•Maintain awareness of current industry safety events and trends.
•Serve as a senior point of contact for accident and incident investigations and projects, programs, and other work activities.
•Responsible for maintaining internal procedural content for investigations.
•Provide written reports upon completion of accident/incident/trend investigations, detailed findings, analysis, and identified systemic hazards; prepare and present aviation safety briefings.
•Support Flight Ops, Inflight, MX & Engineering, OCC, and Safety department meetings by presenting relevant findings related to internal Flight Crew operations investigations.
•Support the Fatigue Risk Review Committee (FRRC) by performing analysis to identify causal factors in fatigue events.
•Serve as liaison between Flight Crews and the FAA for FAA-initiated investigations.
•Create safety promotion materials for Flight Crew Operations personnel (Flight Ops, Inflight, Dispatch).
•Assist in processing Flight Operations & Inflight Safety Event Reports.
•Conduct training in Allegiant safety programs with Flight Crew Operations personnel.
•Other responsibilities as assigned.

Office - While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, see, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, printer, and phone. May be required to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 20 lbs. May be required to work various shifts/days in a 24-hour situation. Regular attendance is a requirement of the role. Exposure to moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones, printers, and foot traffic), temperature and light fluctuations. Ability to work in a confined area as well as the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time. Some travel may be a requirement of the role.
