Summary: The Transport Maintenance Mechanic will service equipment. This role performs repairs, corrections, replacement, inspections, documents, and files accordingly and reports back to Maintenance Supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment; primarily loaders, shears, grapple, skid steers, forklifts, tractor/trailer, shredder.
- Perform daily preventive maintenance on equipment as required
- Follow the dress code and compliance of proper PPE at all times
- Work independently in the absence of direct supervision
- Prepare all necessary documentation [Bill of Ladings, Work Orders, Purchase Orders, Tool Orders]
- Conveyor systems, hydraulic systems, PLC's
- Welding, grinding, weld set-up, and torching
- Set up and break down machinery
- Transportation maintenance
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED, Trade school
- 2 years minimum experience Maintenance/ Mechanic
- Hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Problem solving
- Welding, grinding, and torching experience
- Sort and identify tools and parts
- Pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Pass a pre-employment background check
- Willing to work overtime and weekends when necessary
Physical Requirements:
- Sit, stand, walk, and stoop for long periods of time
- Able to climb in/on mobile equipment
- Exposure to physical operations in scrap recycling facilities, including walking/climbing in active industrial yards with uneven surfaces in inclement weather
